summer school

Since the summer is almost over, I guess I should admit that we didn't do as much "school" as I had hoped, but I'm sure my kids kept learning anyway :)

We took an afternoon and went to Deception pass...

We came home with pockets full of rock (I admit, I brought the most)

I had some fun making letter stones, and story stones.

Gretchy!!

I made a lower case and upper case set of letters, so the girls could put them in alphabetical order and make pairs of letters that go together.

I also made these "word builders" from paint sample papers, and just so anyone might be impressed with me, I got all my ideas from someone else :)

I had Ava move the one card that had an ending sound on it over the other card that had consonants on it and write the ones down that made a word, she loved it.

Ava's and my sharpies on foil drawing.

This idea came from here , we used Lego's to stamp pictures.

Sydney's

and Ryan's ( I only got a picture of the beginning)

Looking forward to more "summer schooling" :)

Painting with a friend

I was going to have Ava's birthday part 2 but I forgot my camera at home for her joint party with her cousin, so here are pictures from today :)

I set up a painting station outside and sprayed shaving cream on some trays, then I put some liquid water color paint in the shaving cream. The girls had to mix it up themselves...

they are a little unsure at first, but...

in no time they were loving it :)

and what play date would be complete with out making "soup" ?

Catch up (#2 crafting)

now for some crafting updates...
my brother got married in May and I made these 2 little cuties for their cake

and here is the "candy bar" (I helped out with that a little too)
I made this for one of Sydney's girls club teachers, I was really happy with how it turned out

a doll house for some peg people (it's actually a cd holder I got from Michael's)

I really liked how the floor turned out in the kitchen

some hats that Syd made
a clay mouse made by Ryan

a snowman

not really a craft, but it did take some imagination to make this Duplo apartment building with Ava and Gretchen :)

School and cuties

Gretchen 15 months

We had my nephew over and I printed out some pictures from the Noah's Ark, While I read the story the kids colored, after they had to work together to put them in order.

I am one of the Kindergarten teachers at our homeschool co-op on Fridays and this was the craft we did for the first week
coffee filters, clothespins and pipe cleaners.
The coffee filters are painted with bingo doters filled with liquid watercolor paint.

Super Cute!

We spent most of the day yesterday making these really cute clothespin/ peg dolls.
I found them here.

These are the 2 that I made.

These 2 are Sydney's.

I hope to make some more soon!

Fun with Play-doh

If you know Sydney at all you will recognize her artwork above.

I printed out these great Play-doh mats, I saw them on someone else's blog but I can't remember where.
I just ran them through my Xyron laminator and they are ready for hours of fun. (I got this with a 50% off coupon at Michael's, a great investment, especially if you home school)

This was fun for all of us, I usually don't let the kids play with play-doh in the house, it's an outside toy, but with these mats the play was more structured so there wasn't play-doh all over the place.
That makes me happy :)
