Sydney's story

Sydney needed to write a story in her language book

about when Jesus was a little boy

and she was having a hard time so

I told her she could write a story about me when I was a girl.

I gave her the words cows, hay forts, swimming and obey, this is what she came up with...

When my mom was little

When my mom was little, she grew up on a farm. If cows got out they would chase them back-in.

It's fun chasing cows. My mom had a HUGE pool. I wish I could've gone swimming in it.

My mom found openings in trees, and made tunnels in hay bales, which they call: hayforts.

They had to obey or they would get a harsh punishment. (true-story)

Travis has been working so much lately that when he got off early on Thursday, we decided to throw a last minute party.

Ava - the ballerina butterfly

Travis was... me :)

Gretchen - the cutest dragon ever!
She actually loved wearing this and kept "grrring" at everyone :)

Sydney was a pirate and Ryan... well, he just put on a bunch of stuff...

we finished the evening with watching How to Train Your Dragon.

Playmobil Medevil Times

This post was actually started last year, but my camera ran out of batteries mid story so we never finished it. I'm posting what we did , maybe we will finish it someday.(knowing how I do project, don't count on it) :)
enjoy.
Long, long ago, in the land of England

there was a king...

"I have servants to do everything for me...I'm bored!"

" I know, I'll have a tournament!"

"Herald, I want you to find me some brave knights, and tell the royal cook to plan a big feast"

"Yes, Sire"

"Royal cook, you must prepare a big feast for the King."

"This isn't going to be enough for a big feast"

"here, kitty, kitty, kitty"

to be continued.....(maybe)

Little smarty

Ava and Gretchen and I were playing on my bed, when we hear a yell for help upstairs. I left Gretchen on my bed and ran out of the room, Ava was following close behind.

I told Ava "stay and watch Gretchen for me."

Ava continues following me, " God will watch Gretchen."

Sometimes babies just aren't hungry

Ava was trying to force feed me with a baby spoon and I was pressing my lips together really tightly so she couldn't put it in my mouth,
Ava says,
"Come on , baby, open your pie-hole!"

Where do they come up with this stuff?

I was talking to Ava about the school co-op that we are going to, and I was telling her that I was a Kindergarten teacher there.

Ava - "You can't be a teacher , you're a mommy!"

Me- "I can be a teacher and a mommy, you are a sister and a kid and a friend, right?"

Ava- "you are a teacher and a mommy and..... a babysitter?

Me -"yep, I could be a babysitter and a ...."

Ava- " and a booger-picker?!"

Sydney is invited to a birthday party for her cousin this Thursday, so of course the first thing she has to do is make a card. Anyone who has read my blog for any amount of time should know what to expect next ;)

the front of the card

the inside left, which Sydney wrote all by herself (she told me she wanted to write something other than "love Sydney)

and , of course, the picture that will require lots of explanation
(as of the posting of this post I haven't yet asked her what this is all about)
to be cont......

Milk comes from Costco, of course

Ava's favorite thing is "milk in my sippy". She asks for it many times a day.

Tonight she was asking for milk in her sippy, I told her, "I'll give you milk if you can tell me where it comes from".

"From a jar!" Now just to hear this in your head, I need to tell you that Ava has an accent, think the -ar in jar like you're at the doctor " say ahhh" , or maybe more like the sound you make when you drink something refreshing, like she's from New Jersey.

Anyway, I said " how does the milk get in the jar?" (actually a jug, but why confuse her)

" From Costco!"

"Well what kind of animal does it come from?" this was taking longer than I expected.

"A giraffe?" "An elephant?"

"nope, what kind of animal is full of milk?"

"Me!"

Enjoying the weather

Travis has been spending every spare minute working on the garage, I'm glad because I would like it to get done, but it's really tiring too.

Ryan, the best big brother in the world, giving his sisters a ride.

I was standing in the kitchen tonight and this is what I heard.

Sydney: "Mom, in my mind you look like a Chinese lady with really dark brown freckles."

Ryan walks out of the bathroom: "If someone asked me what hand to cut off, I would say the left one, because my right one is too valuable."

I just have nothing to say.

Sydney - 6 1/2

We very rarely drink pop, but I bought a case of Mexican Coke from Coscto for Easter when we went over to my sisters house, I gave Ryan a bottle, today and he was very surprised.
He walks outside and takes a drink and then comes back in and says "Mom, does this have caffeine in it?"
"Yep"
He tries to hand it back to me, "Oh, I can't have caffeine until I'm 18."

I told him that was alcohol and it's 21. :)

Sick kids

Here are the 2 sick kids on Monday.
Ava is feeling better now, although she does still have a runny nose, and Gretchen looks better here than she is acting.

Ava wanted to watch The Tale of Despereaux , she was telling me how funny it was
" the kitty gets out and wants to get the rats, with it's sharp finger nails and feeter nails!"

Boogers

Ava has has a runny nose for a few days, not a big deal, but , come on , she's 2 and she doesn't always wipe her nose right away.
The kids were outside playing and all of the sudden Ryan and Sydney come in and leave Ava outside, crying. Sydney says Ryan told Ava she was gross and he wasn't going to play with her anymore because she had snot running down her face.
I told Ryan not to be a hypocrite because he picks his nose, but if he sees someone else's boogers he freaks out. ( I admit I was a little annoyed)
Well, Ryan gets upset and tells me ,why do I have to call him names.
Me- what name?
Ryan- "well, I don't know, something really mean, like a Democrat, or something!"

My kids- the slaves

Here is Ryan's "Domo" from Target and a felt donut that I made, I thought it turned out pretty cute.

We have been reading The Tale Of Despereaux for the last 4 weeks. We got it from the library and have already renewed it once and it is due again tomorrow, so I think we will have to renew it one more time. I like to read books to the kids if there is a movie to see, before they see the movie; I think it's really hard to do it the other way around.

I have been having a really hard time getting into this book, which is why we have had it so long, but I'm hoping that I will be able to finish soon and then the kids can watch the movie, which is what it's all about anyway, right??

So, we were reading tonight about a girl in the book who was sold to be a slave to this man , and a man who worked for the king came and took her away and told her she was going to be a paid servant at the castle now. Oh ya, should I have said, SPOILER ALERT!?

Ryan had to ask me to "Pause", and asked me what a servant was. So, we talked for a few minutes about what a slave is and what a servant is; Sydney says, "so, we are slaves, right?"

I was like "slaves to who??"

Sydney, "well, slaves to you , we have to do what you say and we don't get paid."

Do and Don't Books

Ava got this book from the library yesterday,
Underwear Do's and Don'ts

Here is an example of one of the pages...

While I was reading it to Ava this morning the older kids were telling me ideas of what they would say, so...

They each wrote and illustrated their own Do and Don't books

Here is Ava's book, because she always wants to do school work too.

While I am writing this post Ava is outside yelling "be quiet, bird!"
