Harvest Party

Travis has been working so much lately that when he got off early on Thursday, we decided to throw a last minute party.

Ava - the ballerina butterfly

Travis was... me :)

Gretchen - the cutest dragon ever!
She actually loved wearing this and kept "grrring" at everyone :)

Sydney was a pirate and Ryan... well, he just put on a bunch of stuff...

we finished the evening with watching How to Train Your Dragon.

good times

Painting projects

We have an odd space in our kitchen that we hadn't painted yet.It was an old ironing board in a cabinet in the kitchen. When we first moved in one of the first projects I did was to take the ironing board out and I put shelves in instead, it became a medicine cabinet.

When we redid our kitchen we painted everything but the front of that cupboard. I told Travis that I really wanted to paint a chalkboard there.

He wasn't that into it, but eventually I wore him down, and here it is.

The kids also had some painting fun; since we went to see the tulips I thought they could paint some.

Ava had fun with finger paint.

Sydney's Ryan's mine

Ava took care of using up the leftover paint.

I was so proud of Ava she was trying to write her name and she did this A perfectly!(She didn't get any farther than that, maybe because I made a big deal about it and took a picture)

We got this ice cream ball (I don't think that is it real name) last year, but hadn't used it until now.

You just add the ingredients in the top and put ice and rock salt in the bottom, let the kids jump on the trampoline for 15 min(or however you want to shake it up) and you've got yummy ice cream!

The recipe book tells how to make all kinds of flavors , I think coconut is next.
They are actually selling these at our Costco. I love Costco!

Deception Pass

Here is our pretty princess Gretchen.
Travis works at 4am now so, even though he is super tired, he is able to spend some more time with us, and takes us places sometimes. On Thursday we went to Deception Pass.

After we took the kids to Fir Island for ice cream, "as big as Gretchen's head"!

No pictures.

Travis took me to Kyoto Japanese Steakhouse in Bellingham for my Birthday today. He was going to get my sister to watch the kids, but we decided that the kids would probably like to go too, so we all went.
I was trying to find my camera before we left home, but couldn't and I didn't want to make a big deal about it , as if we can only have fun if I have my camera to document it.
If you have never been there, it's quite a show. The kids loved it ! We all sat at a table with a big grill? (is that what it's called or a cook top??) Any way, the chef comes and all your food is cooked there in front of you, they also do little tricks with the eggs and flippin' their flippers around. I wish I had had my camera with if only to take a picture of Ava's face when the chef started something on fire (on purpose, of course).
I had a great time , and Sydney asked if we could go there for her birthday, I told her "sure, but you won't get any presents."
She changed her mind.

April Fools

I've always looked in my Family Fun magazine and seen all these great April fools pranks to do to your kids, and I never did them , so this year was the year.
We started off at breakfast with "fish sticks with ketchup" and "peas".
They were actually Airheads candy rolled up for the "peas" and for the "fish sticks" I put peanut butter on wafer cookies and rolled them in crushed cornflakes, the "ketchup" was strawberry jam.

Lunch was "cupcakes". The kids actually really liked this meal, biscuits with bbq hamburger, topped with cheese and baked, then topped with colored mashed potatoes.

Ava REALLY liked it!

I also had them do a maze that had no way out and a memory game that had no matches .
